Dublin Tourism Enterprise Award Winner 2007

Receiving the 2007 Tourism AwardThe Dualway Group have recently been awarded the coveted Dublin Tourism Enterprise Award for the pioneering Dublin Multilingual Tour.

The Group, who operate global sightseeing brands City Sightseeing and Gray Line, were recognised for the newest of their open top sightseeing tours, which features commentary in 6 languages (Spanish, French, Italian, German, Japanese and Russian) as well as a Kid’s commentary.

The Group, who carried 300,000 passengers in 2006, were presented with the award at the fifth Dublin Tourism Enterprise Awards which took place in Dublin Tourism’s head office at St Andrews Church on April 19th.  The award recognises organisations who have helped to enhance the Dublin product to overseas visitors. Dublin Tourism’s chief, Frank Magee commended the company for being the first to provide a multilingual sightseeing tour in Dublin.

The Dualway Group’s General Manager, David McConn said:

3 Great New Tours for Summer 2007

With summer only around the corner The Dualway Group have added three great new tours that will ensure sun lovers a bit more time in the great outdoors!

The new tours include:
City Sightseeing On Foot - two walking tours taking in some of Dublin’s most loved and off the beaten track hidden treasures.

Gray Line Day Tour – a great way to escape city life for a day! This trip to Kildare, home of Ireland’s horse country, features a fun Irish Coffee making demonstration followed by a complimentary Irish Coffee to savour with your tour companions.

Meander through Dublin’s cobbled medieval streets and discover the city’s hidden treasures.
What better way to explore Dublin’s unexplored fair city than on foot! Walk along the tucked away narrow streets of Temple Bar by day and discover some of its hidden treasures – the national photographic library with its images of times gone by, the Irish Film Centre and Temple Bar’s piazzas, home to Dublin’s weekend markets and only open air cinema.
A short hop across the river and you’re into Dublin’s “new” Temple Bar at Smithfield Square with nearby St Michan’s Church, home to Dublin’s famous mummies.

Tales of the River Liffey from the source to the glass!!!
On a journey that takes you along the Liffey’s bridges and new boardwalk, discover the birthplace of the Liffey’s name and learn how the once bustling Viking trade centre came to become one of Europe’s liveliest cultural hubs. The journey starts at the city’s modern Custom House and journey’s towards the site of the original Custom House, now the spot where U2’s Clarence Hotel sits. With a stop at the Old Jameson Distillery, birthplace of the famous triple distilled Jameson whiskey this tour finishes in front of the medieval Christ Church Cathedral where customers can avail of the very special discounted rate for an Irish Whiskey Tasting while enjoying stunning views overlooking the Cathedral.

Board a Bus for Barretstown Charity Fundraiser

Fundraising for BarretstownAll passengers travelling on the City Sightseeing Dublin Tour or Multilingual Tour on Friday, May 11th will be participating in a fundraiser day which helps support the well loved Childrens Charity Barretstown Camp.

Barretstown Camp, which hosts children with serious illnesses, is the only one of its kind in Ireland and is affiliated with Paul Newman’s Hole in Wall Gang in the US.

Last year The Dualway Group helped to raise a total of €7000 from ticket sales on board the City Sightseeing Dublin Tour. Tickets are on sale now at www.irishcitytours.com or www.barretstown.org

Three brand new tour buses will join the City Sightseeing Dublin and Gray Line tour fleet from May! Over €750,000 was invested in three new touring buses. Two of the vehicles are open top Volvos, which have been fitted out with the ultimate in high tech multilingual systems so that they can join the City Sightseeing Dublin Multilingual fleet this summer. The addition of these buses will ensure a 20 minute frequency on the Dublin Multilingual Tour which currently departs every 40 minutes!

The third vehicle, an 80 seater Volvo closed top double decker, will operate on The Wicklow Mountains, Valleys & Lake Tour which departs daily all year. With high back seats, air conditioning and larger panoramic windows, this bus offers maximum comfort and great views of Wicklow’s mountains, valleys and lakes.

The Newgrange Tour has been renamed to the Valley of the Kings Tour. The departure times and prices remain as normal. However, this tour will no longer visit Mellifont Abbey but will instead visit Monasterboice, a spellbinding place which is home to some of Ireland’s most famous celtic crosses.
